Trenton native Danny Tobias brings beautiful shape, swing and individuality to his jazz performances. Playing professionally since his teens, and a mentee of Tony DiNicola and Kenny Davern, he’s best known for his artful improvisation. Danny’s skills and repertoire embrace a variety of styles, although he is strongly influenced by Louis Armstrong, Ruby Braff, Buck Clayton and Chet Baker.
Danny has enjoyed performing and recording with prolific artists such as Warren Vaché, Scott Robinson, Rossano Sportiello, Mark Shane, Vince Giordano, David Ostwald, Gordon Webster, Terry Waldo, Harry Allen, Dan Block, Jon-Erik Kellso, Kevin Dorn, the Midiri Brothers, Marty Grosz and Howard Alden. He can be seen performing in New York City at Birdland (often with David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band), Mezzrow, the Ear Inn, and Zinc Bar, to name a few, and at jazz festivals and jazz parties across the USA and Canada.
Danny has recorded a number of albums as a leader. His most recent album “Silver Linings” was recorded on Ride Symbol Records.
A veteran educator, Danny also mentors musicians of all ages, encouraging them to reach the heights of their skill and creativity. Lessons are available in person, or remotely.
